Rochester, NY – Charles Settlement House will expand its after-school program with the assistance of the Rochester Area Community Foundation.  The foundation is providing a $40,000 grant to lengthen the hours the program is open and expand the clubs and activities offered by Charles Settlement House.  The funding is available for the 2006-07 school year.

Charles Settlement House is collaborating with Enrico Fermi School #17, Campbell Street Recreation Center, and Foodlink Kids Café for the after-school program.  A photography club is being added, and the School #17 Student Council will survey students to provide input about other new activities.  Activities are held at the school and at Charles House.  The grant will also provide money for additional staff training.

Charles Settlement House will celebrate its 90th anniversary in 2007.  The non-profit organization provides services to Northwest Rochester.  Programs include youth development, pre-school, family and emergency services, community organizing, and a senior adult center.
